Why do many people defend without having any competence the politically motivated utterances of politicians o

Politicians who many times may have some legal background make very often policy statements in areas they are absolutely incompetent. Statement which may have been prepared by some junior intern without proper factual support. The same is with "editors" of news media. Many people defend this incompetence and contribute to the decline of real facts. Why do people put their own thinking and research on "neutral"?
