It sounds like you are aware of reality. The only advice I can give you is to make the best of it. Just because everyone else works jobs they hate and such doesn't mean you have to. You always have the *chance* to start up a multi-million dollar company and travel the world. If you want to help others, you can try creating your own charity or you could even just volunteer at your local homeless shelter. If you become a doctor, you can enter the Doctors without Borders operation. You could even become a biomedical engineer and create an affordable drug that suppresses or cures the symptoms in HIV. There are plenty of ways to help people if that is what you aspire to do.
