Cutting undersea communications cables in the ME: State sponsored terrorism?
Excuse me, they were spared? Oh no, I don't think so. All of that traffic that was going to go through the now severed connection will keep going, and eventually reach a dead end before turning around and clogging up the network where it came from, which is usually around the same geography, which is going to include the Middle East, and it will affect Israel, Lebanon and Iraq, badly. You call it sabotage, yet I can find no proof that someone intentionally destroyed these cables, and they do happen to break quite frequently. Five years ago, a cable going across the Pacific snapped, causing all the traffic in Europe to go East, only to turn around and come West. It took 3 months for all the mis-guided traffic to reach its destination, and of course the computers requesting the resource had moved onto something else.
